As of today it appears there is somewhere between 24-29 of us. Plus we have 2 Jr. Death Eaters as mentioned in a past post. Not a bad turnout. I do hope to join up with other death eaters who may pop up at the last minute.
So shine those masks, and scourgify those robes. Thursday is our big meet-up, as we show up in full force for the welcoming feast. Thursday is an unstructured day for the con which means free time. Go check out the galleries and what not. We are free to cause cosplay mayhem in the house rooms.
When in your costume always remeber you are a servant to the Dark Lord! We don't play fair, but we will pose for photos. XD
I will be at the con first thing on Thursday due to being at Snapefest the day prior. Look for a tall Death Eater- that's me.
Please bring forward any ideas or other recruits.
Don't forget targets are Aurors, Order members, Weasleys, Harry, and any non-Slytherin house.
Calling my American DE brethren. I wonder if anyone has a hair straightener that they are bringing/ could bring with them to Portus. Mine is designed for the UK 220V output, so will quite possibly blow up if I plug it in to a US socket. This might seem like an odd request, but I am playing Bella, and canon!Bellatrix has long straight hair methinks, and I have very bushy hair a la Hermione unless tamed, especially in humid weather (which granted, may not be the case in Dallas). I was hoping that someone could help me out with this?
Since I can't help but notice that I'm not the only one that will be trying to save money at Portus, I made a map as many fast food places that are within walking distance from the hotel. I also put a few hotels on the map that are within walking distance. If you hit the button "Places of interest" you can get it to show grocery stores and bars etc... I also put a marker up for the galleria mall, it is within walking distance and has Taco bell, McDonald's, Starbucks, Auntie Anne's just to name a few.
Portus will be here sooner than we think. I do not have the details on the event below, but I think a few death eaters should show up to this. I do not have the time details. But feel free to organize among yourselves by responding to this post. Sat is the ball, so I have no idea what the common room expects. I would think this would be on a Friday/Friday night. Please be aware that the common room runs on a sort of "flexible schedule" if you get my drift. I base this opinion on how the common room was operated at Prophecy. Of course, if anyone signs up and there are other unplanned activities going on, just behave as Death Eaters anyway and have a revel in the common room.
Cut from the Portus email I received:
Call for Cosplay Performers!
This is for all those cosplayers who put many hours into their creations, designs, and artwork to reflect their ship, favorite character, or just a fun Hogwarts-themed witch or wizard. Did you take a real person out of history and intertwine them with the Harry Potter universe? Come tell us about them. We could all use a history lesson or two. Think you know all there is to know about your canon character? Let the quizzing begin!
For an hour on Friday and Saturday, people with cosplay creations will get to show their stuff. They can perform non-judged skits, or different people can talk about the groups in which they are involved. Keep it clean, and keep it safe! Apparation wards are up, Floo network is off, no Unforgivables! (aka, nothing dirty to pick up, use your imagination!)These entries must be pre-approved by the Common Room staff and must have scripts and group biographies reviewed before Portus.
Anyone know where I can get custom costumes made? I want to go as a Dementor for Portus but I can't find a pattern. I don't want to go looking like a depressed Jedi either with just a dark robe, I want something like this.
My mom can sew but she has to have a pattern, so I'm SOL.
I have decided to dress up as Peter Pettigrew for Portus, and was just going to wear this while carrying some suitable accessories (ex. Marauder's Map). However, it is apparently down in the rulebook that one is not allowed to half-assedly cosplay any Death Eater, so I have come for tips. Is there anything special I should do to properly be Wormtail? (I have the DIY prowess of a newt, so sewing and the like are out of the question, but I will try to get ahold of something that can pass for robes...)
Death Eaters are to gather in the hall before the welcoming feast. It is more of an impact to sit together. It is best to sit in the back near the exits, that way you can capture Harry Potters when they leave.
Roam the halls.
During the day, roam the halls.
Death Eaters shall congregate at the Ball entry point.Remember you can wear another costume under your death eater garb.
9:00AMThe Leaving Feast
Death Eaters not hung over should go to the leaving feast and try to sit as a group.
When there isn’t a scheduled cosplay event, your job as Death Eaters are to simply cosplay. It is best if you travel about in small groups.Death Eaters have more impact in a group, then as singles.
Being in a small group or pair means it is harder to attack you.
A small group can surround the enemy that is attacking other death eaters.
If you see another death eater in distress, it is your duty to come to their aid.
If death eaters are partying, join! The more the merrier. What’s a revel without death eaters?
Death eaters do not disrupt presentations with dueling, even if the Gryffindors are being annoying and deserve hexing.*(if the forum is a discussion panel, and they are bashing death eaters or the Dark Lord it is your duty to stand up and defend the position of death eaters. That is OK and could be quite fun.If you are in arts and crafts workshop, feel free to make Death Eater accessories.)
Death Eaters should sit near each other if attending the same presentation.
Groups of young female Hufflepuffs are fun to cosplay with, because they scream.
Strategies for taking out the enemy sometimes involve strategic positioning. One group herds a target group in to a waiting, but hidden second group of death eaters.
Do not touch the targets; we don’t want to actually physically harm the targets.
Pose for photos.
If the Dark Lord is around, you go to the Dark Lord.
Have your wand handy at all times.
You slink around the halls, and duck behind pillars.Think cloak and dagger moves.
You stare at people, it unnerves them.
Greet fellow death eaters with a nod of the head or a slight bow.(Please, no squeeing Death Eaters, it is undignified.)
Show your mark to other Death Eaters.
Defer to the Dark Lord and always with respect. One does not squee over the Dark Lord.
If you go as a specific character Death Eater, (e.g. Bellatrix) act in character.
Muggle cell phones should be put on vibrate mode.
Go to the Lexicon and learn your curses.
Please feel free to throw out ideas or say the ones above are crap. If you want to do Death Eaters at Wrock, by all means, go!!
Hi there, I just had a few questions regarding my DE robes. Firstly, do they have to be robes in the strictest sense of the word, or will a robe-like outfit suffice? Also, need they be black? What about masks, are they a must have item?
Sorry if I seem a bit clueless, but have never cosplayed before, and I don't wish to disappoint my Dark Brethren ;-)
